ACCEPTING A PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION TO
ESTABLISH AN AD HOC SE/SW TRAIL COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg, Virginia has placed high priority on transportation,
pedestrian safety, and quality of life issues; and
WHEREAS, the Town's master trail plan outlines trails in and around Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, there are limited established and proposed trails linking SE and SW
quadrants to the rest of Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, during it's February 2, 2006 meeting, the Planning Commission
recommended to Town Council the establishment of a citizen committee to address the lack of
trails in SE and SW Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council works with various commissions, the public, and staff to
develop a multi-year Capital Improvement Program that addresses the community's capital
infrastructure needs, while working within the Town's established fiscal policies guidelines to
maintain and strengthen the Town's long-term financial health and bond ratings.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby
accepts the Planning Commission recommendation to establish an ad hoc citizen committee
representative of residents of SE and SW Leesburg to address the trails access in those quadrants
and report back to Town Council on findings and recommendations.
PASSED this 14th day of February 2006.
