U~-~l:~-ttd-, May~)r Town of Leesburg P drive: resolutions 2006: Verizon Franchise Agreement Adelphia Offer WHEREAS, on December 6, 2004, Verizon Communications made a formal application to the Town of Leesburg for a cable franchise to offer cable television services to residents in the Town; and WHEREAS, the Cable Television Advisory Commission and Town staff have been actively negotiating the terms of a franchise offer with Verizon; and WHEREAS, Town Staff and the Cable Television Advisory Commission have identified where the current franchise offer from Verizon is not comparable to the existing Adelphia Cable franchise held by the Town which means the offer fails to meet the level playing field requirements held by the State Code; and WHEREAS, the Town Council feels that it is in the best interest to further negotiations with Verizon Communications and attempt to make a franchise offer at this time. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that Town Staff is authorized to offer Verzion a franchise agreement based on the terms of the existing Adelphia Cable
