A RESOLUTION: AWARDING A CONTRACT TO HAZEN AND SAWYER, P.C. FOR
THE DESIGN OF CARR TANK #2, ROUTE 643 TANK, RECOATING
OF THE EXISTING CARR AND HOGBACK MOUNTAIN TANKS,
AND PROVIDING A DESIGN REPORT FOR THE EXPANSION OF
ROUTE 643 PUMPING STATION
WHEREAS, Carr Tank #2, Route 643 Tank, recoating of the existing Carr and Hogback
Mountain Tanks, and a design report for the expansion of Route 643 pumping station are funded
capital projects; and
WHEREAS, in response to a public solicitation in September 2005, the firm of Hazen and
Sawyer, P.c. was selected as the most qualified offerer for providing these engineering services;
and
WHEREAS, a design contract in the amount of$398,183 was negotiated with the firm; and
WHEREAS, the Capital Projects Director and the Chief Purchasing Officer recommend
awarding the contract to Hazen and Sawyer, P.C.; and
WHERAS, a contract for providing professional services during the construction of the
projects will be negotiated and executed with the firm later, but before commencing construction
of the projects.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Lees burg in Virginia that the
Town Manager is authorized to award, on behalf of the town, a design contract to Hazen and
Sawyer, P.C. in the estimated amount of$398,183 for the design of Carr Tank #2 and Route 643
Tank, providing specification for the recoating of the existing Carr Tank and Hogback Mountain
Tank, and providing a design report for the expansion of Route 643 Pumping Station.
