RESOLUTION NO. 2006-51
A RESOLUTION: ESTABLISHING lHE LEESBURG 250th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
CITIZENS TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council recognizes the cultural, economic, and educational
importance of the community's heritage; and
WHEREAS, the Council has supported various anniversary programs including America's 400th
Anniversary (formerly recognized as Jamestown 2007) and Leesburg and Loudoun Anniversary
Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg and Loudoun Anniversary Committee is in support of a community
populated committee to program special anniversary events in Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, the Town does not currently have a staff or commission workplan that outlines
Town anniversary events; and
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes the value of citizens who wish to contribute time and
expertise to creating a true community celebration.
lHEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby
establishes the Leesburg 250th Anniversary Celebration Citizens Task Force and directs staff to solicit
volunteers to serve on the task force to be presented at the May 9th, 2006 Council meeting.
