HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_03_14_r053 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED March 14.2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-53 ADOPTED March 14.2006 A RESOLUTION : SUPPORTING DOMINION VIRGINIA'S REVISED AL TERNA TIVE ROUTE AS AMENDED IN THE MARCH 2006 REBUTTAL TESTIMONY; RECOMMENDING UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION FOR ANY ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION LINE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE TOWN'S MUNICIPAL LIMITS AND OPPOSING ANY CONSTRUCTION THAT INVOLVES PART OF THE W &OD REGIONAL PARK TRAIL WHEREAS, on April 14, 2005 Virginia Electric and Power Company ("Dominion Virginia Power" or "Dominion") filed its application ("Application") with the State Corporation Commission ("Commission") for the construction of (a) a single-circuit transmission line of230 kilovolts ("kV") from its existing Pleasant View Substation to its proposed new 230 kV- 34.5 kV substation to be constructed at a location east of the Town ofPurcellville ("Hamilton Substation"), and (b) the Hamilton Substation; and WHEREAS, the Commission has set the Application for hearing in Case No. PUE-2005- 00018 (the "Proceeding"); and WHEREAS, in March 2006 Virginia Electric and Power Company ("Dominion Virginia Power" or "Dominion") submitted rebuttal testimony; and WHEREAS, the Town Council supports underground construction for any electrical transmission line in close proximity to the Town's municipal limits and opposing any involving part of the W &OD Trail. THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Lees burg in Virginia hereby recommends supporting Dominion Virginia's revised alternative route as amended in the March 2006 rebuttal testimony; recommending underground construction for any electrical transmission -2- A RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING DOMINION VIRGINIA'S REVISED ALTERNATIVE ROUTE AS AMENDED IN THE MARCH 2006 REBUTTAL TESTIMONY; RECOMMENDING UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION FOR ANY ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION LINE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE TOWN'S MUNICIPAL LIMITS AND OPPOSING ANY CONSTRUCTION THAT INVOLVES PART OF THE W &OD REGIONAL PARK TRAIL line in close proximity to the Town's municipal limits and opposing any construction that involves part of the W&OD Regional Park Trail.
