HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_03_28_r060 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED March 28, 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-60 ADOPTED March 28, 2006 A RESOLUTION: REQUESTING FULL FUNDING FUNDS FOR THE LEESBURG VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT AND LOUDOUN COUNTY RESCUE SQUAD WHEREAS, as part of their budget deliberations, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors originally took a straw vote to eliminate the full $2,678,000 funding for all volunteer fire and rescue companies in the County; and WHEREAS, more recently, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has taken a straw vote reinstating $1,000,000 in funds; and WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg recognizes the importance of fire and rescue services for Town Residents; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council recognized that no final action will be taken until the budget is acted upon on April 4, 2006. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Council requests the Board of Supervisors to: SECTION I. Take appropriate action to guarantee that the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Loudoun County Rescue Squad receive their full funding of funds within the $1,000,000 allocation. These amounts would be $76,000 for Leesburg Volunteer Fire and $65,000 for Loudoun County Rescue; or SECTION II. The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors fully reinstate funds in the FY 2007 budget in the amount of $2,678,000. PASSED this 28th of March 2006. ~Q~ . C.
