Leesburg Arts & Cultural District Presents “The Art of Peter Max”
Leesburg, VA (August 2, 2012) – On Friday,
August 3rd, as part of the monthly Leesburg First
Friday arts celebration, the Leesburg Arts &
Cultural District will present a special exhibit
featuring rare original artwork by Peter Max. The
exhibit will be located at 2B Loudoun Street SW
and will be open from 6pm to 9pm on Friday,
August 3, 2012 and from 11am to 5pm on
Saturday, August 4, 2012.
One of the most famous living artists, Peter Max
is a pop culture icon whose works span several
decades and important moments in our nation’s
history. His bold colors, uplifting images and an
uncommon artistic diversity have touched almost
every phase of American culture and have
inspired many generations. This special exhibit
will feature art from a private collection,
including a number of rare Peter Max originals
that have not been displayed publicly in many
years.
The exhibit will also feature the works of Leesburg artists Lisa Strout and Doris Kidder. Lisa
Strout is a sculptor whose work is influenced by her keen sense of humor and a fascination for
patterns and movement. Lisa’s work has been in numerous juried exhibits, invitationals,
galleries, and is in private collections throughout the United States. Doris Kidder has been
drawing all her life. In this exhibit she will show samples of her work from art school in New
York in the 1940’s to Mexico in the 1950’s to Northern Virginia and now. Her images capture a
moment with splashes of color and quick bold strokes.
At the exhibit during the First Friday celebration, Hidden Brook Winery will offer wine tastings
and the Vale of the Blue Ridge Maple Farm will offer samples of their fresh, local maple syrup.
