HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_06_27_r114 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED: June 27. 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-114 ADOPTED: June 27. 2006 A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING STAFF TO CONTINUE WITH THE MOSQUITO CONTROL PLAN AT TOWN OWNED FACILITIES IN RESPONSE TO WEST NILE VIRUS WHEREAS, the Town has been effectively implementing a mosquito control plan throughout Town owned facilities; and WHEREAS the program has been in effect since 2000 with the first two years comprising of public education; and WHEREAS, since 2002, expenditures in amount of $326,000 has been spent to combat "hot spots" with ultra-low volume of spraying of adult mosquitoes and treatment of catch basins; and WHEREAS, this program must continue in order to maintain the current level of nuisance control and public health protection currently provided on Town owned property in cooperation with Virginia Department of Health. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town Manager is authorized to continue with the implementation of the Mosquito Control Program.
