HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_07_25_r137 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED: July 25. 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-137 ADOPTED: July 25. 2006 A RESOLUTION: APPROVING A SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION FOR A POLICE DEPARTMENT BUDGET INCREASE OF $26,280 FOR FUNDS RECENED FROM A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WHEREAS, the Leesburg Police Department has received a check in the amount of $26,280 from a class action lawsuit against Toyobo Company, L TD, the manufacturers of Second Chance Body Armor in settlement of a lawsuit charging potentially defective material in the vests; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Police Department has supplied police officers of the Town of Leesburg with Second Chance Body Armor which was identified in the lawsuit; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Police Department identified 36 vests that were affected by this lawsuit and the pro rata share of the settlement fund is $730.00 per vest; and WHEREAS, the Town Council and the Leesburg Police Department believes in providing our officers with the best possible personal protection. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The FY 2007 Police Budget is hereby amended and an appropriation is made in the amount of $26,280 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2006 and ending June 30, 2007. SECTION II. The Leesburg Police Department budget is amended in the amount of $26,280. PASSED this 25th day of July 2006. ATTEST: ~
