HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_08_08_r145 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED August 8. 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006- 145 ADOPTED August 8. 2006 A RESOLUTION: AWARDING THE AIRPORT PERIMETER FENCE PHASE I CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WHEREAS, the Airport Perimeter Fence Project is a partially funded capital project in the FY 2007-2011 CIP; and WHEREAS, in response to a public solicitation for the construction bids of the Airport Perimeter Fence Phase I project, the Town received bids on June 30, 2006, from the following firms: . Long Fence Company $122,999.80 . Hurricane Fence $136,005.78 . New York State Fence $281,157.20 . TMG Company $432,732.04; and WHEREAS, the bids were evaluated by the Director ofthe Department of Capital Projects Management and the Chief Purchasing Officer in accordance with the Town's Purchasing Policy; and WHEREAS, Long Fence Company was determined to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; and WHEREAS, this is a unit price contract and the estimated quantities multiplied by the unit price have established the not to exceed contract price; and WHEREAS, change order procedures are detailed in the bid specifications; and -2- A RESOLUTION: AWARDING THE AIRPORT PERIMETER FENCE PHASE I CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Virginia Department of Aviation (DOA V) grants provide 98 percent of the funding; and WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg is required to provide a two percent match in funding; and WHEREAS, the combination of grants and Town money provide sufficient funding to award this contract. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town Manager is authorized to execute a contract, in a form approved by the Town Attorney, with Long Fence Company, in the amount of$122,999.80 for the construction of this project.
