A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING STAFF TO IMPLEMENT HOLIDAY
PARKING PROMOTIONS IN THE HISTORIC DOWNTOWN
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council recognizes the importance of the
downtown business community and supports the individual business owners in their
efforts to attract visitors and customers to shop and dine in the Historic District; and
WHEREAS, the downtown business community is always looking for innovative
ways to promote the unique shops and restaurants in the Historic District; and
WHEREAS, parking promotions help to foster a more positive perception of the
downtown as a shopping and dining destination by making parking more accessible
during the busy holiday season; and
WHEREAS, in conjunction with the Leesburg Downtown Business Association's
holiday "Shop Downtown" promotion starting on November 24,2006, Town staff have
recommended making all downtown parking free during the holiday shopping season;
and
WHEREAS, these proposed parking promotions will be used in marketing
materials to attract visitors and encourage them to visit longer, enjoying the many
specialty shops, restaurants and holiday events in the historic district; and
WHEREAS, similar parking promotions in 2005 were very well received by both
the downtown merchants and their customers.

RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING STAFF TO IMPLEMENT HOLIDAY PARKING
PROMOTIONS IN THE HISTORIC DOWNTOWN
THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
authorizes staff to waive all parking fees, including parking meter fees and fees in the
Town Hall Parking Garage, for the period from November 23,2006 through January 5,
2007.
