WOLF IN EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO INCREASED TOLLS FOR THE DULLES GREENWAY WHEREAS, the Dulles Greenway is a major transportation corridor in the Washington- Baltimore Metropolitan Area that terminates in Leesburg, Virginia; and WHEREAS, the Dulles Greenway serves a vital link in the region's economy and is a key asset to both Leesburg and Loudoun County's efforts to attract and retain businesses and workforce as commuters travel the Dulles Greenway daily to reach Leesburg, East and Western Loudoun, the Dulles Toll Road, Fairfax, Arlington, the District of Columbia, and the Capital Beltway; and WHEREAS, on September 5, 2006, Congressman Frank R. Wolf submitted comments to the Virginia State Corporation Commission sharing his opposition to the proposed toll increase, describing the increases and the rate of return as unreasonable, with a negative impact on both commuters' quality of life and local traffic; and WHEREAS, requests have been made to hold the public hearing on this matter in Loudoun County. THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia joins Congressman Frank R. Wolf and other state and local government officials, including Senator Mark R. Herring, Delegate David E. Poisson, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, and the Purcellville Town Council, in expressing opposition to the Dulles Greenway toll increase, and respectfully requests that the hearing on the proposed toll increase be held in Loudoun County. -2- RESOLUTION: JOINING CONGRESSMAN FRANK R.
