HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_09_26_r164 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED September 26. 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-164 ADOPTED September 26. 2006 A RESOLUTION: REQUESTING CONSIDERATION OF INCENTIVES FOR DULLES GREENWAY AND DULLES TOLL ROAD USERS WHO CAR POOL WHEREAS, the Dulles Greenway and the Dulles Toll Roads are major transportation corridors in the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area, with the Dulles Greenway terminating in Leesburg, Virginia; and WHEREAS, the Dulles Greenway and the Dulles Toll Road serve as vital links in the region's economy and are a key assets to both Leesburg and Loudoun County's efforts to attract and retain businesses and workforce; and WHEREAS, commuters travel the Dulles Greenway and the Dulles Toll Road daily to reach Leesburg, East and Western Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington, the District of Columbia, and the Capital Beltway, and the Dulles Toll Road experiences regular gridlock based on the single- occupancy vehicles; and WHEREAS, car and van pooling are among several forms of alternative transportation supported regionally to help alleviate traffic congestion, protect air quality, and preserve energy. THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby respectfully requests that the Toll Road Investors Partnership II, L.P. (TRIP II), owner of the Dulles Greenway, and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) consider providing incentives for Dulles Greenway and Dulles Toll Road users who car pool to their destinations. -2- RESOLUTION: REQUESTING CONSIDERATION OF INCENTIVES FOR DULLES GREENWAY AND DULLES TOLL ROAD USERS WHO CAR POOL PASSED this 26th day of September 2006. r ATTEST:
