HomeMy Public PortalAbout065-1978 - Fixing the rate of taxes levied on properties within the Cityn] Prescribed by State Board of Accounts AMENDED ORDINANCE NO. 65-1978 City Budget Form No. 4 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE RATE AND AMOUNT OF TAXES FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES TO BE LEVIED ON PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF RICHMOND, WAYNE COUNTY, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR 1979, AND PROVIDING FOR THE TAKING EFFECT THEREOF, SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana, that the amount of taxes to be levied on property within the City of Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana, for the year 1979, to be collected in 1979 shall be $2,982.568 and the rate of such tax and purpose therefore shall be as follows: A. For the GENERAL FUND of said City, the levy shall be 1.21480 on each One Hundred Dollars of assessed valuation and this shall be placed in the said General Fund. B. For the GENERAL SINKING FUND of said City, the levy shall be 0.07005 on each One Hundred Dollars of assessed valuation. C. For the AIRPORT OPERATING FUND of said City, the levy shall be Zero on each One Hundred Dollars of assessed valuation. D. For the POLICE PENSION FUND of said City, the levy shall be 0.23915 on each One Hundred Dollars of assessed valuation. E. For the FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND of said City, the levy shall be 0.38297 on each One Hundred Dollars of assessed valuation. F. For the PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT of said City, the levy shall be 0.51955 on each One Hundred Dollars of assessed valuation. G. For the PARK SINKING BOND FUND of said City, the levy shall be 0.04774 on each One Hundred Dollars of assessed valuation. H. For the REDEVELOPMENT SINKING BOND FUND of said City, the levy shall be 0.07018 on each One Hundred Dollars of assessed valuation. I. And therefore shall be a total tax rate on the property within the City of Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana of 2.54444. SECTION 2. Said taxes shall be paid and allocated as provided by an ACT of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled "AN ACT GOVERNING MUNICIPAL CORPORATION", approved March 6, 1905, and subsequent parts thereto amendatory and/or supplemental thereto or therefore. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, properly signed by the President of Common Council, approval by the Mayor of said City, and with notice as required by law. Ahaus 7 Carter . Elstro , Merchanthouse Mills Paust , Welch Williams Absent: None -- -- -- - - - The following business was had to -wit: (OTHER BUSINESS HAD) The Clerk presented proof of publication of Notice to Taxpayers printed in the Richmond Palladium Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of August loth and August 17t1i Said notices stated that a public hearing would be held on the day of August, 1978 , by the Common Council to consider additional appropria- tions as provided for in Ordinance No. 65-1978 , within the City of Richmond, Indiana. The proof of publication and posting of notices were examined and found to be correct and in order. Councilman Mills moved the proof of publication and posting of notices be received and ordered filed, seconded by Councilman Ahaus and on voice vote the motion was carried.
