HERRING AND DELEGATE DAVID E. POISSON IN PROVIDING INCOME TAX RELIEF TO TOLL ROAD USERS STATEWIDE WHEREAS, the Dulles Greenway is a major transportation corridor in the Washington- Baltimore Metropolitan Area that terminates in Leesburg, Virginia; and WHEREAS, the Dulles Greenway serves a vital link in the region's economy and is a key asset to both Leesburg and Loudoun County's efforts to attract and retain businesses and workforce as commuters travel the Dulles Greenway daily to reach the Leesburg, East and Western Loud9un, the Dulles Toll Road, Fairfax, Arlington, the District of Columbia, and the Capital Beltway; and WHEREAS, similar toll facilities are located throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and serve as important transportation links in their respective regions; and WHEREAS, alleviating regional transportation congestion has consistently ranked as a highest legislative priority of the Leesburg Town Council conveyed to the local General Assembly delegation; and WHEREAS, on September 15, 2006, Senator Mark R. Herring and Delegate David E. Poisson respectively filed SB 5024 and HB 5051, seeking an income tax credit for toll users who make electronic toll payments on Virginia highways; THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia supports the efforts of Senator Mark R. Herring and Delegate David E. Poisson in their effort to provide income tax relief for toll road users throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. -2- RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING SENATOR MARK R.
