HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_09_26_r166 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED September 26. 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-166 ADOPTED September 26. 2006 A RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY DELEGATION EFFORT FOR A BROAD-BASED TRANSPORTATION FUNDING PLAN FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA WHEREAS, in November 2005 the Mayor and Council of Leesburg, Virginia identified legislative items that are in the best interest of the residents of the Town of Leesburg; and WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to communicate these items to the elected officials representing Leesburg to be addressed by the 2006 General Assembly Special Session; and WHEREAS, the top priority is funding roads to alleviate regional roadway congestion, including several Leesburg projects with significant regional impact. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Leesburg, Virginia that the Mayor and Town Council hereby support the Northern Virginia General Assembly Delegation's effort to unify behind a plan that is broad-based and includes a minimum of $400 million per year in new, dedicated ongoing transportation funds for Northern Virginia, with an appropriate funding mechanism to distribute proportionate funding amounts among counties, cities, and towns.
