AN ORDINANCE TO CONTROL TRAFFIC AT SCHOOL CROSSINGS.
WI3EREAS, it is in the interest of the health, safety and public welfare of the
citizens of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that traffic stop at school crossings
guarded by school crossing guards and traffic be under the control of said
crossing guard.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RICFWND, INDIANA, THAT:
1. It shall be unlawful for any pedestrian or driver of any motor vehicle to
disobey the directions of any adult school crossing guard while such school
crossing guard is controlling traffic at a school crossing.
2. The driver of any motor vehicle or bicycle or pedestrian who shall disobey
the direction of an adult school crossing guard at any school crossing shall be
deemed to have committed an infraction of this Ordinance and Sections .21 - .22
of the Municipal Code of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
3. This Ordinance shall be known as Chapter 46, Sections .21 - .25, of the
Municipal Code of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
4. Any person guilty of an infraction of this Ordinance and or Section of the
Municipal Code shall be liable for a penalty of not less than ($50.00) Fifty
Dollars nor more than ($300.00) Three Hundred Dollars.
S. This law shall become in full force and effect after passage and acceptance
by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, signed by the Mayor, and
published as required by law.
