HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_10_24_r179 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED October 24, 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-179 ADOPTED October 24, 2006 ARESOLUTION: EXPRESSING CONCERN ABOUT THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENTS UNDER CONSIDERATION AND THE PROCESS WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has approved an extensive Comprehensive Plan in 2001; and WHEREAS, that Plan and other planning efforts with the incorporated Towns of Loudoun have defined a well thought out process for the review and consideration of amendments to the Comprehensive Plan; and WHEREAS, a significant number of comprehensive plan amendments have been submitted to the County for consideration; and WHEREAS, the County government should seek input from the neighboring towns and impacted citizens and thoughtfully consider these plan amendments and their implications on transportation, the environment, capital facilities such as schools, and County finances, before taking any action on specific rezoning or special exceptions; and WHEREAS, it is the belief of the Leesburg Town Council that these plan amendments would have a negative impact on the regional transportation network and Leesburg commuters; and WHEREAS, it the concern of Town Council that the impact of the Comprehensive Plan amendment changes could have a significant financial impact on all County residents, including those in the Town of Leesburg. - 2 - ARESOLUTION: EXPRESSING CONCERN ABOUT THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENTS UNDER CONSIDERATION AND THE PROCESS THEREFORE, RESOL VED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The Leesburg Town Council opposes approval of the CPAMs currently under consideration by the Board of Supervisors, such as Dulles South and Crosstrail. SECTION II. The Board of Supervisors follows the principles of joint planning as defined for each of the incorporated Towns. P ASSED this 24th day of October 2006 C.
