HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_10_24_r181 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED October 24. 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-181 ADOPTED October 24. 2006 A RESOLUTION: DIRECTING THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION AND THE PUBLIC ART COMMISSION TO CONDUCT A PERFORMING ARTS FACILITY ANAL YSIS WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg does not currently have adequate performing arts facilities to serve the needs of our growing local arts community; and WHEREAS, performing arts organizations and businesses represent significant opportunities for economic growth in the Town; and WHEREAS, the Council seeks to support the local arts community by investigating the possible development of a new performing arts facility within the Town; and WHEREAS, the Economic Development Commission and the Public Art Commission are advisory bodies appointed by Council to provide advice and guidance on matters related to economic development and the arts. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council ofthe Town of Leesburg in Virginia to direct the Economic Development Commission and the Public Art Commission to conduct an analysis of performing arts facilities. FURTHER, RESOLVED that such analysis should cover, but not be limited to, the following aspects: the size of an ideal facility including number of stages or auditoria and number of seats for each, parking capacity, size of site needed, potential locations within Town, examples of operational models, and possible funding mechanisms.
