HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_11_14_r191 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED November 14.2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-191 ADOPTED November 14, 2006 A RESOLUTION: THAT THE TOWN COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE TOWN MANAGER TO COMMENCE PROCEEDINGS WITH THE COUNTY OF LOUDOUN TO COMPLETE A BOUNDARY LINE ADJUSTMENT FOR THE VETERANS PARK PROPERTY (FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE WALDE TRACT) WHEREAS, in March 2000, the Town of Lees burg and the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NVRPA) successfully acquired 141 acres adjacent to Balls Bluff Regional Park known as the Walde tract; and WHEREAS, the property was jointly purchased with the NVRP A, and the property was subdivided into two parcels consistent with the percentage of acquisition; and WHEREAS, the Town obtained 86 acres or 61% of the property, and the NVRPA obtained 55 acres or 39% of the property; and WHEREAS, in June 2002, Town Council passed Resolution #2002-107 naming the 86 acre Town site as Veterans Park at Balls Bluff; and WHEREAS, in July 2005, the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority Board agreed to work cooperatively with the Town of Leesburg to bring their 56 acre portion of the former Walde tract into the Town's corporate limits; and WHEREAS, in October 2006, work was completed for the Boundary Line Adjustment Plat and Metes and Bounds description for the proposed Leesburg Corporate Boundary Line Adjustment for the Town's Veterans Park property; and WHERAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation recommends commencement of the proceedings to complete the Boundary Line Adjustment for Veterans Park. -2- A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING A BOUNDARY LINE ADJUSTMENT FOR THE VETERANS PARK PROPERTY THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia to authorize the Town Manager to commence proceedings with the County of Loudoun to complete a Boundary Line Adjustment for the Veterans Park property (formerly known as the Walde Tract).
