A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PROPOSED FY21 BUDGET
FOR VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER RECOGNITION AND SUPPORT
WHEREAS, The City of Riverdale, Iowa ("City") is a Municipal Corporation, organized and
operating under the laws of the State of Iowa, and;
WHEREAS, the City has relied on volunteers from Riverdale and surrounding communities
to serve in the City's Fire Department, providing protection and life-saving services to
residents, workers, students, and visitors, and;
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of proper training, motivation, on -going
education and encouragement of its volunteers to maintain operational readiness and
capability, and;
WHEREAS, in previous years, there have been questions raised about whether or not
recognizing and motivating the department's vo►unteers served the general good of
the City of Riverdale, and;
WHEREAS, the leadership cadre of the Riverdale Volunteer Fire Department has
submitted a recommended budget for recognition, appreciation and support of the
departments volunteers that fits within the fiscal constraints of the certified City Budget
for FY2021.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERDALE,
IOWA.
Section 1. The City Council of Riverdale hereby recognizes the importance of a
motivated, trained and publicly recognized volunteer workforce serving as the City's
volunteer fire department as vital to the safety and well-being of its residents;
Section 2. The Fire Chief and Assistant Chiefs have submitted a budget for planned
expenses related to recognizing, appreciating and encouraging excellence in the
department that conforms to the certified FY21 budget of the City of Riverdale (EXHIBIT
A); and
Section 3. The City Council agrees that each item in the budget serves the public
good by providing resources to the Fire Department's leadership cadre so they can

recognize excellence and dedication of volunteers to the general safety and wefi-
being of the City of Riverdale, its residents and the surrounding community at -large;
Section 4. The submitted budget is hereby approved for this specific use during FY21
by order of the City Council of the City of Riverdale.
