HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-05-2014THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 5, 2014 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, June 5, 2014, in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. President Robinson called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Present were: Vicki Robinson, Tony Foster and Dick Foore. Also in attendance were Kim Vessels, Assistant City Attorney; Karen Chasteen, City Clerk; Police Lt. Donnie Benedict; Fire Chief Jerry Purcell; Paris Pegg, Morrison Reeves Library; Mike Widau, Roscoe's; and, Media. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Foster moved to approve the minutes for the May 29, 2014 meeting with a second by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Foore moved to approve June 6, 2014 claims for payment in the amount of One Hundred Nineteen Thousand Seventy Seven Dollars and six cents ($119,077.06), supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. REQUESTS • STREET CLOSURES: ➢ ROSCOE'S BAR AND TAP ROOM Fort Wayne Avenue — North "D" Street to North "E" Street July 18, 2014; 7 — 11:00 PM RHS 1984 Class Reunion Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Mr. Foster moved to include a Noise Variance in this street closure request, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. ➢ MORRISON REEVES LIBRARY North 6th Street; North "A" Street to Service Drive July 30, 2014; 8:00 am — 8:00 pm 150th Anniversary Celebration Mr. Foore moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • HANDICAP PARKING SIGN RENEWALS: Board of Works Minutes June 5, 2014 Page 2 of 3 439 South 15th Street 224 North 21St Street 42 South 19th Street 617 NW 1St Street Mr. Foore moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. BID OPENINGS • Industrial Parkway Intersection Improvements: The following bids were received: ProLawn Care - $61,932.00 Milestone Construction - $94,500.00 Cooley Construction - $72,472.00 These bids were taken under advisement for due diligence. • North B Street Curb and Sidewalk Improvements and Museum Parking Lot: The following bids were received: Smarelli General Contractor - $151,158.00 Milestone Construction - $136,000.00 ProLawn Care - $ 84,931.00 Cooley Construction - $139,607.00 These bids were taken under advisement for due diligence. BID AWARDS None CONTRACTS • CONTRACT NO. 62 -2014 — Phoenix Safety Outfitters (Fire Department) Services in connection with the cleaning, repair and maintenance of turnout gear Not to exceed $25,000.00 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 66 -2014 — Rinehart's Lawn Care Not to exceed $35.00 /hour In effect until November 30, 2014 This service will be used for abandoned building properties. Mr. Foore moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried.
