HomeMy Public PortalAbout094-1978 - Providing for the continuation of Richmond City Court - StrickenORDINANCE NO. 94-1978 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE RICHMOND CITY COURT WHEREAS, Indiana Code 33-10.5-1-3a provides that all city courts in cities of the second, third, fourth and fifth class are abolished on December 31, 1979, unless said courts shall be continued by an ordinance passed before January 1, 1979; and WHEREAS, the City Court of Richmond performs a valuable service for the citizens therein by providing for efficient, economical and fair dispositions of minor criminal matters; and WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the citizens of Richmond, Indiana, to extend the existence of the Richmond City Court until December 31, 1983. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that: 1. The City Court of Richmond is hereby continued for a period of four years, up to and including December 31, 1983; as provided in Indiana Code 33-10.5-1-3a (P.L. 141, Acts 1978, Section 9). BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Common Council that this ordinance be in full force from and after its passage signing by the President of the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, all according to law.
