HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006_11_28_r205 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED November 28. 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-205 ADOPTED November 28. 2006 A RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF LIBERTY STREET PROJECT AND THE LEESBURG PRINCE HALL FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS TO RESTORE AND PRESERVE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 14 LffiERTY STREET IN THE OLD AND HISTORIC DISTRICT. WHEREAS, the Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons are leading a public/private partnership known has the Liberty Street Project; and WHEREAS, the Liberty Street Project is dedicated to restoring and preserving the property at 14 Liberty Street in the Old and Historic District; and WHEREAS, the property is important to the social and cultural history of Leesburg and contributes to the architectural integrity and historic significance of the Old and Historic District; and WHEREAS, the Liberty Street Project is eligible for funding opportunities to support the restoration and preservation of the building and as a requirement for those funds, the Liberty Street Project will need to illustrate support from a local governing body; and WHEREAS, preservation of the Leesburg Old and Historic District is an important element of Leesburg's Town Plan and Town Council vision. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The Town Council supports the efforts ofthe Liberty Street Project and the Leesburg Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons to restore and preserve the building located at 14 Liberty Street in the Old and Historic District.
