A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING A REQUEST FOR MATCHING FUNDS FROM
THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (VDOT)
FY 2007 REVENUE SHARING PROGRAM FOR THE VIRTS
CORNER PROJECT
WHEREAS, the VDOT FY 2007 budget provides funds in the amount of $15 million to be
matched by the locality on a minimum of a dollar-for-dollar basis; and
WHEREAS, the Virts Corner project is a needed capital project that will improve safety of
that intersection; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg desires to submit an application for an allocation of funds
of up to $1 million through the VDOT Fiscal Year 2007 Revenue Sharing Program for the Virts
Corner Project; and
WHEREAS, the total estimated Virts Corner project is $2.26 million.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council ofthe Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I: The Town Council hereby supports this application for an allocation of up to $1
million through the VDOT Revenue Sharing Program.
SECTION II: The Town's share of$1.26 million is hereby earmarked for the Virts Comer
project.
PASSED this 28th day of November 2006.
