A RESOLUTION: ENDORSING THE APPLICATION AND AUTHORIZING THE
TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL OF THE
DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPLICATION FOR
A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT IN
ORDER TO FUND CONSTRUCTION OF A PLAYGROUND
FACILITY AT BRANDON PARK
WHEREAS, community development and recreation are important elements of
Leesburg's Town Plan and Town Council vision; and
WHEREAS, the proposed playground project for Brandon Park will install a
modem and innovative play area for youths ages 2-12 in an existing Town of Leesburg
Park that would service several affordable housing communities; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Leesburg Town
Council recognize that playgrounds offer an array of benefits to help children develop
physically, socially, and developmentally in a setting that is fun; and
WHEREAS, the Town is eligible for a Community Development Block Grant that
could be used to fund construction of a playground facility at Brandon Park.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in
Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. The Town Council endorses this application for a Community
Development Block Grant to fund construction of a playground facility at Brandon Park.
SECTION II. The Town Manager is authorized to execute any and all ofthe
documents associated with the grant.

SECTION III. The Town of Leesburg hereby agrees to pay a minimum of 10
percent of the total cost for this project.
