HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2012-08-06 new utility fees and charges Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release New Town of Leesburg Water and Sewer Fees and Charges Took Effect August 3, 2012 Leesburg, VA (August 6, 2012) – Several new fees and charges for Town of Leesburg water and sewer services went into effect on August 3, 2012. Following a public hearing held on July 10, 2012, Town Council adopted these new fees and charges, which are applicable to all Town utility customers. The new fees and charges that went into effect on August 3, 2012 are as follows: • Service charge for new accounts: $30.00 • Resumption of water service after discontinuance for nonpayment: $30.00 • Tampering fee (customer activates or reactivates meter after discontinuance of water and/or sewer service): $50.00 • Trip fee (trips to a service location by town staff subsequent to missed appointments): • During normal town working hours: $30.00 • After normal town working hours: $50.00 • Customer-requested meter test, if meter is found to be accurate: • $75.00 for meters up to 2” • $250.00 for meters larger than 2” • Customer-requested leak check: • During normal town working hours: $30.00 • After normal town working hours: $50.00 • Services performed after normal town working hours: $70.00 per hour with 2 hour minimum • Service charge for water drawn at public fire hydrant with a town-issued hydrant meter: $50.00 per quarter (more) TOL PR 2012-08-06 New utility fees and charges Page 2 • Service charge for water drawn at K.B. Rollins Water Treatment Plant: $10.00 per day per truck Establishment of these new fees and charges required an amendment to the Leesburg Town Code. Details of the Town Code amendment were advertised in a Public Notice in the Leesburg Today newspaper and were posted on the Town’s website. A public hearing was held on July 10, 2012 before the Town Council and no comments were made by members of the public during the hearing. Following the public hearing, the Town Council approved the Town Code amendment.
