A RESOLUTION: GRANTING THE VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS REQUEST
FOR AN EXTENTION OF THE PEG INTERCONNECTION
AND AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO SIGN ANY
AND ALL RELATED DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, on June 27,2006, the Town of Leesburg granted a franchise to Verizon
Communications to provide cable service in the Town of Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the franchise agreement indicate that Verizon is to interconnect
its cable system with the Comcast cable system and with the Town of Leesburg in order to
provide PEG Access programming on the Verizon channel schedule; and
WHEREAS, the franchise agreement provides a I80-day deadline for the interconnection
of PEG Access programming; and
WHEREAS, Verizon has been unable to interconnect with Comcast at its Ashburn,
Virginia studio facility before this deadline; and
WHEREAS, Verizon has requested an extension until June, 25, 2007 pursuant to Section
6.1.4 of the Leesburg-Verizon Franchise agreement; and
WHEREAS, Verizon has worked in good faith with Town of Leesburg Staff to complete
the interconnection at 25 West Market Street in Leesburg, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Verizon and the Town have been unable to complete this interconnection
before the deadline; and
WHEREAS, Verizon has requested an extension of this deadline until February 25,2006
pursuant to Section 6.1.4 of the Leesburg-Verizon Franchise agreement; and
WHEREAS, Town Staff recommends approval of this extension in order to provide
public and government access programming to Verizon subscribers in Leesburg.

AND ALL RELATED DOCUMENTS
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. That Council grants Verizon's Request for an extension of the PEG
interconnection deadline.
SECTION II. The Town Manager is hereby authorized to execute any and all documents
associated with Verizon' s request.
