A RESOLUTION: INITIA TING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEESBURG TOWN PLAN TO
ADDRESS THE SERVICE PLAN FOR LEESBURG EXECUTIVE
AIRPORT
WHEREAS, it is the desire and intent of Town Council to continue the development of
the Leesburg Executive Airport in an orderly manner; and
WHEREAS, the "2006 Airport Master Plan Update: Final Report" dated December 2006,
calls for such development, including among other things the addition of aircraft
storage/maintenance hangars to the west of the runway; and
WHEREAS, the Town Plan does not currently make reference to the service plan for the
airport; and
WHEREAS, the additional hangar area is classified as Regional Office in the Town Plan;
and
WHEREAS, such use is consistent with the Community OfficelLight Industrial land use
category of the Town Plan but not with the Regional Office category; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good planning
practice require the proposed amendments; and
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION 1. Amendments to the Town Plan are hereby initiated and referred to the
Planning Commission to establish appropriate text and map designations to accommodate the
future development of the airport as presented in the service plan for the airport.

SECTION II. The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider these
amendments to the Town Plan, and report its recommendation to the Town Council pursuant to
Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
