A RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF KEEP LOUDOUN BEAUTIFUL,
ENCOURAGING COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN A TOWN-WIDE
CLEAN-UP AND A BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM TO KEEP LEES BURG
BEAUTIFUL TROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AND PROCLAIMING APRIL 14,
2007 AS KEEP LEESBURG BEAUTIFUL DAY
WHEREAS, people who dump litter carelessly damage Leesburg's beauty, natural
resources, and neighborhood quality of life; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg recognizes Keep Loudoun Beautiful's decades of
dedication to environmental education and advocacy, including the annual Spring Clean-Up
campaigns each April; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg appreciates the fine work of the Town's building, street,
and parks maintenance crews, engineers, and volunteers who regularly fight litter in public streets,
rights-of-ways, and parks, including participants of the Town's Storm Drain Marking Program, and
Adopt-a-Street, Spot, or Park programs; and
WHEREAS, in addition to their regular duties, the street maintenance crew alone has
devoted over 1,800 hours annually in cleaning roadways and rights-of-ways, including efforts to
keep Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)-controlled roadways clean given the Town's
higher maintenance standards; and
WHEREAS, Keep Loudoun Beautiful, community volunteers and organizations can support
the Town's efforts by participating in neighborhood clean-ups and beautification projects; and

2007 AS KEEP LEESBURG BEAUTIFUL DAY
WHEREAS, Keep Loudoun Beautiful has organized volunteers throughout Loudoun
County, but until 2005 had no official teams in the incorporated towns, Keep Loudoun Beautiful has
worked with the Town and volunteers to provide structure and training for year-round monitoring
and clean-up of Leesburg neighborhoods by Leesburg neighbors, with Leesburg serving as a model
for other towns to start similar efforts; and
WHEREAS, Leesburg residents, businesses, youth groups, churches, and service
organizations are encouraged to volunteer to keep Leesburg beautiful during a Town-wide clean-up
and beautification effort on April 14, 2007, which will launch with a celebratory morning kick-off
on the Town Green.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby
encourages Leesburg residents, businesses, youth groups, churches, and service organizations to
volunteer year-round to keep Leesburg beautiful, starting with the second Annual Town-wide clean-
up and beautification effort on April 14, 2007.
FURTHER, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby
proclaims April 14, 2007 as Keep Leesburg Beautiful Day in the Town of Leesburg, Virginia.
PASSED this 10th day of April 2007.
