HomeMy Public PortalAbout2007_05_08_r081 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia RESOLUTION NO. 2007-81 PRESENTED: May 8. 2007 ADOPTED: May 8. 2007 A RESOLUTION: DONATION OF OUT OF SERVICE POLICE VEHICLES TO THE TOWN OF MIDDLETOWN, VIRGINIA FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONTINUED POLICE USE WHEREAS, the Middletown Police Department is a small department of six (6) officers in Frederick County Virginia serving a population of approximately 1000 residents; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police, R. Philip Breeden has made a request to the Leesburg Police Department for consideration of equipment and supplies no longer needed by Leesburg; and WHEREAS, the Middletown Police Department operates on a very small budget and does not have the resources of a larger jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Police Department has taken several vehicles out of service and the Middletown Police Department will be able to make use of these for a couple more years at higher mileage accumulation; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Police Department believes in the continued partnership of its police partners. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that The Town of Leesburg hereby donates to the Town of Middletown, Virginia, one (1) 2000 Chevrolet Impala Police Vehicle, mileage 82,054; one 2001 Chevrolet Impala Police Vehicle, mileage 70,506; and one (1) 2001 Chevrolet Malibu, mileage 84,350.
