A RESOLUTION: DEVELOPMENT OF A MEMORIAL GROVE
WHEREAS, on April 16th, 2007, the Council, as well as the nation, were deeply
saddened by the loss of life at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State College; and
WHEREAS, the Council desired to respectfully remember the faculty and students who
died; and
WHEREAS, a tree planting memorial program for the Town should be established to
meet the desire for this and future memorials; and
WHEREAS, the Council would like to develop a comprehensive approach to memorial
tree planting with an efficient use of Town resources.
THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby
directs staff to develop and integrate into Town policy a Memorial Grove concept to address the
current and future tree planting memorials within the Town.
PASSED this 8th day of May 2007.
