HomeMy Public PortalAbout2007_06_12_r090 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED June 12.2007 RESOLUTION NO. 2007-90 ADOPTED June 12.2007 A RESOLUTION: CREATING A FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST ACT POLICY FOR BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, COMMITTEES, AND TASK FORCES WHEREAS, the Town Council seeks and values the advice and input of the Town residents to support the operations of Town government; and WHEREAS, the Council supports the full purpose and intent of the Freedom of Information Act and the Conflict of Interest Act; and WHEREAS, the Council desires to give citizens confidence in public officials and the government so they will trust the government, by creating a clear set of rules for government officials. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that all members of the Boards, Commissions, Committees, and task force members be required to read and review the most recent edition of the Virginia Municipal League Virginia Freedom of Information Act and the Virginia Conflict of Interest Act Guide for Local Government Leaders before attendance at their first meeting. This document also includes the complete Virginia Code sections pertaining to the Freedom of Information Act and the Conflict of Interest Act. FURTHER, RESOLVED that upon completion of that review of information, that appointees be required to sign an acknowledgement of review and understanding of the information.
