HomeMy Public PortalAbout2007_06_12_r097 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED: June 12.2007 RESOLUTION NO. 2007-97 ADOPTED: June 12.2007 A RESOLUTION: INITIA TING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH STANDARDS FOR UTILITY BOXES AND RELATED EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, it is the desire and intent of Town Council to maintain, enhance and protect the appearance and character of residential neighborhoods in Leesburg; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Ordinance currently does not address the screening, appearance or placement of utility boxes and related equipment in residential neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, Council desires to consider the establishment of screening, size, appearance and location standards for utility boxes and related equipment installed in residential neighborhoods within the Town of Leesburg; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of Town Council to establish use regulations, definitions and appropriate locations for utility boxes and related equipment in the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice require the proposed amendments. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. Amendments to the Zoning Ordinance are hereby initiated and referred to the Planning Commission to establish appropriate definitions, use standards and locations for utility boxes and related equipment. -2- A RESOLUTION : INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH STANDARDS FOR UTILITY BOXES AND RELATED EQUIPMENT SECTION II. The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider these amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and report its recommendation to the Town Council pursuant to Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
