HomeMy Public PortalAbout2007_07_24_r108 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia RESOLUTION NO. 2007-108 PRESENTED: July 24. 2007 ADOPTED: July 24. 2007 A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE STAFF TO CONTINUE WITH THE MOSQUITO CONTROL PLAN AT TOWN OWNED FACILITIES IN RESPONSE TO WEST NILE VIRUS ON ANNUAL BASIS WHEREAS, the Town has been effectively implementing a mosquito control plan throughout Town owned facilities; and WHEREAS, the program has been in effect since 2000 with the first two years comprising of public education; and WHEREAS, since 2002, expenditures in amount of $416,179 has been spent to combat "hot spots" with ultra-low volume of spraying of adult mosquitoes and treatment of catch basins; and WHEREAS, this program must continue annually in order to maintain the current level of nuisance control and public health protection currently provided on Town owned property. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town Manager is authorized to continue with the implementation of the Mosquito Control Program on annual basis as a rider on Fairfax County contract.
