The Park Commission of Medina, Minnesota met in regular session on June 15, 2011 at 7:00
p.m. in the Medina City Hall. Park Commission Chair Janet White presided.
1) Call to Order

City Council member Melissa Martinson and Public Works
Superintendent Steve Scherer
- White added Recognition of the donation of $550.00 from
the Hamel Athletic Club.
- Linck added discussion of the Commission Sponsored
Nature Walk
3) Approval of Minutes:
April 20, 2011 Regular Meeting Minutes
Page 2:1 st Paragraph: 6th line 10 acres of active parking
A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes with the change noted. Motion
passed unanimously.
May 14, 2011 Park Tour Meeting Minutes

Page 1: Hunter Lions Park: 2nd line direct people to the trail to the west meadow
at the Park
A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes with the change noted. Motion
passed unanimously.
4) Public Comments (on items not on the agenda): None
5) City Council Update:
Martinson gave an update of the City Council meeting.
6) Discussion of Park Tour
Discussed the maintenance of the trail at Medina Lake Preserve. Need access to add
wood chip this year. Original trail was done 6-8 years ago, now needs additional layer to
be maintained.

Discussed signage in Hunter Lion's Park. Need a sign to the Trail to the West Meadow.
White will add this to the research she is doing on signage for other parks.

7) 2011 Capital Improvement Plan

Discussion on the status of the planned Trail on Willow Drive from Morningside to Cty
6. Issue of safety and the significant need where discussed.
Benson motioned and it was seconded by Linck The Medina Park Commission strongly supports
the Trail on Willow drive from Morningside south to Cty 6.
The Park Commission discussed the timing of the nature walk.
White tabled the remainder of the agenda as the Commission was about to lose its
quorum.
A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:32.
