HomeMy Public PortalAbout2007_11_14_r164 Authorizing Holiday Parking Promotion The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED November 14,2007 RESOLUTION NO. 2007-164 ADOPTED November 14,2007 ARESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING STAFF TO IMPLEMENT HOLIDA Y PARKING PROMOTIONS IN THE HISTORIC DOWNTOWN WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council recognizes the importanee of the downtown business community and supports the individual business owners in their efforts to attract visitors and customers to shop and dine in the historie district; and WHEREAS, the downtown business community is always looking for innovative ways to promote the uni que shops and restaurants in the historie district; and WHEREAS, parking promotions help to foster a more positive perception of the downtown as a shopping and dining destination by making parking more accessible during the busy holiday season; and WHEREAS, these proposed parking promotions will be used in marketing materials to attract visitors and encourage them to visit longer, enjoying the many specialty shops, restaurants and holiday events in the historic district; and WHEREAS, similar parking promotions in 2005 and 2006 were very well received by both the downtown merchants and their customers. THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia authorizes staff to waive all parking fees, including parking meter fees and fees in the Town Hall Parking Garage, for the period from November 19,2007 through January 4, 2007. - 2 - RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING ST AFF TO IMPLEMENT HOLIDA Y PARKING PROMOTIONS IN THE HISTORIC DOWNTOWN FURTHER RESOLVED that staffwill provide an after action report on the results of the Holiday Parking promotion to Council not later than the first Council meeting in February 2008.
