ARESOLUTlON: APPROPRIATING $13,200 FROM THE FY 2008 BUDGET TO THE
LOUDOUN ARTS COUNCIL FOR SUPPORT OF LEESBURG'S FIRST
FRIDA Y PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Loudoun Arts Council has sponsored Leesburg's First Friday monthly
visual and performing arts event for many years; and
WHEREAS, the Loudoun Arts Council received a budget allocation of $20,000 in FY 2007
for support of the event; and
WHEREAS, due to a reorganization of the event, the Loudoun Arts Council did not apply
for funding in the FY 2008 budget cycle; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Downtown Business Association has agreed to take
responsibility for the marketing of the event while the Loudoun Arts Council will continue to
coordinate the visual and performing arts programming; and
WHEREAS, the Loudoun Arts Council now requests funding of $13,200 from the FY 2008
budget, $2,500 to fund the visual and performing arts programming and $10,700 to be used by the
Leesburg Downtown Business Association for marketing and advertising the event.
WHEREAS, the Loudoun Arts Council together with the LDBA will provide a summary of
measurable goals within FY 2008 not limited to; approximate attendance, trends, increase in
leveraged funding; and
WHEREAS, a sustainable business plan will be developed for the program going forward.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Council's FY 2008 Community Agency Grants budget is hereby amended, and an

appropriation to the Loudoun Arts Council is made in the amount of $13,200 for the fiscal year
beginning July 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2008.
