A RESOLUTION:
APPROVING POLE SIGNS FOR THE SPECIAL EVENTS
COMPONENT OF THE W A YFINDING SIGNS SYSTEM STUDY
WHEREAS, Council reviewed the Wayfinding Sign System Study in November 2003 to
provide a comprehensive system of signage to inform the public regarding public services,
including special events; and
WHEREAS, due to public safety requirements and the lack of adequate infrastructure to
erect monument signs in the right-of-way to inform the public of special events, pole signs were
proposed as part of the wayfinding sign package; and
WHEREAS, when unusual building site conditions prohibit the ability to obtain effective
signage, the Zoning Administrator may issue sign permits which comply with the intent of Article
15 upon authorization from the Town Council in accordance with Zoning Ordinance Section 15.9.7
Unusual Site Constraints; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice
require the proposed authorization.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. Authorization is hereby given for pole signs to be erected in the public right-
of-way in four locations. The following limitations regarding the signs shall apply:
A. The pole signs shall comply with the specifications depicted on the pages entitled
"Leesburg Wayfinding Sign System - Special Events Signs" and numbered pages 47 and 48
except as modified by the Board of Architectural Review.

B. There shall be a maximum of two (2) pole signs erected in each ofthe four
entranceways specified on page 49 of the plan entitled "Map 4 - Special Events Sign
Locations". This includes the addition of pole signs at W. Market Street
