HomeMy Public PortalAbout2007_11_27_r170 Naming Morven Meadows Park The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED November 27.2007 RESOLUTION NO. 2007-170 ADOPTED November 27.2007 A RESOLUTION: FORMALLY APPROVING THE NAME OF THE PARK SITE ALONG OLD W A TERFORD ROAD AS MORVEN MEADOWS PARK. WHEREAS, on June 26, 2007, Town Council Resolution # 2007-98 was approved, which authorized the Town to enter into a formal agreement with the Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation for use of28 acres located along Old Waterford Road for a public park inclusive of an off-leash area for dogs; and WHEREAS, the deed of lease was formally signed and executed by the Town of Leesburg and the Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation on October 18,2007; and WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation recommends approval of the name "Morven Meadows Park;" and WHEREAS, on September 8, 2007, the Leesburg Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission endorsed the name "Morven Meadows Park;" and WHEREAS, on October 29,2007, the Board of Trustees of the Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation approved the use of the name "Morven Meadows Park" for the property. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the park site along Old Waterford Road shall use the name "Morven Meadows Park."
