PRIORITY BUSINESS
Administrators' Reports
Keith Gauley reported on staffing changes for next year; planning for room uses in the
future, i.e. sound proofing rooms to provide necessary services for hearing impaired
students; thanks to BESPIE for all they did on Teacher Appreciation Day; MCAS tests
will be administered the next two weeks; and had examples of student work where
students work as a team with each one providing a section of the report.
Denise Fronius reported that they held kindergarten orientation over two days and they
have 66 students registered; staffing changes at Stony Brook for next year; and
acknowledged all that Mary Berzinis did to get what was needed for a citizen to be able
to attend and hear what was being said at Town Meeting; and Curriculum Coffee was
held and although attendance was small the presentation by the specialists was
excellent as they showed how they introduce their area (art, music, technology) in the
core curriculum and they are using SMART Boards in their work.
Consider 2008-09 Leases
The Collaborative uses five rooms and have requested the same for next year. Cape
Cod Child Development has requested renewal of their lease and has asked that the fee
remain at $500 in consideration of the playground improvements they've made. The
fees were increased from $500 to $550 for 2008-09 and then $600 in 2009-2010. After
discussion of the fact that CCCD had to have the playground for their funding, it was
moved by Marie Enochty, seconded by Steve Jones and voted unanimously to
approve fhe leases for both organizations at the rate of $550 per classroom.

Hopes for Stony Brook Property
Due to a conflict of interest, Mr. O'Reilly recused himself from this discussion. After Mr.
O'Reilly left the room, Supt. Gradone reviewed the request received from the owners of
Brewster Bike Shop to purchase a small portion of town-owned land by the Stony Brook
Elementary School and the Rail Trail and the possible exchange of some property they
own with frontage on Underpass Road. He suggested that this request be deferred for a
month inasmuch as others have expressed interest as well (Brewster Recreation and
Affordable Housing). Mr. Jones asked that a newer map be obtained in order to see
how much actual road frontage there is and a map that shows the bike shop's location
and proximity to the Stony Brook Elementary School property and bike path. There is a
possibility that a License Agreement could be issued to the Bike Shop which would give
them temporary permission for access to the bike trail using the school's property. It
was agreed that Supt. Gradone will inform the owners of the Bike Shop that given
possible Town uses for other purposes the Committee might be willing to consider a
license, and get an updated map from the Town. Dyanne Cooney reported that the
Housing Authority and Brewster Recreation are working together to look at possible
properties for housing and for tennis courts. Mr. Jones said there might be a corner
north of the rail trail and not part of the parking lot that might be good for tennis courts.
Mr. O'Reilly returned to the meeting.
