Brewster School Committee
Minutes of October 16, 2008 ~~~ ~ ~ ~~~~
Held at Eddy Elementary School
Chair O'Reilly called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
For the Committee: Steve Jones, Marie Enochty, John O'Reilly, Jennifer Rabold, David

For the Administration: Michael Gradone, Denise Fronius, Keith Gauley
Others: Dyanne Cooney, parents, interested citizens

PRIORITY BUSINESS
- Administrators' Reports
Denise Fronius reported the bleacher project is complete; Title I funds came through
which will fund 40% Title I teacher for students in 1 St and 2"d grade who are struggling in
math.
Christine Sieger and BACC children and parents joined the meeting and students read
statements about how they feel about the BACC program with parents commenting as
well -all very positive.
Keith Gauley reported on enrollment which is up four students since September; a grant
was received for $500; students in 4th grade are doing a study of Pleasant Bay and using
digital cameras to record their work; and finished with an overview of AYP and MCAS.
The November Professional Development day will have teachers from both schools
working together (vertically by subject) to analyze the test results for part of the day
before they work together by grade.
- Accounting Format
Michael Gradone reported that Mr. Baumhauer was out of the office all week (ill) so
enrollment and accounting will be on the November agenda. The proposal for the roof at
Eddy is being looked at before Town Meeting.
Consider Search Committee Participants
John O'Reilly, Chair of the Subcommittee on the Superintendency, explained the
process. The people on the Search Committee must make a commitment to be at all
meetings and interviews which will be at least two days of interviews along with
meetings prior to and following the interviews. Mr. Jones and Mr. Telman indicated they
did not want to be on the Search Committee; Ms. Enochty, Mrs. Rabold and Mr. O'Reilly
would all consider participating. The selection of the Search Committee will be done at
the October 30 Joint School Committee meeting.

Marie indicated that she will not be running for another term on the School Committee
and that it would be wise to start recruiting new people to run for the office.
REPORTS AND INFORMATION
- Cape Cod Collaborative
Marie reported that the tour was wonderful and the search for Walter Healey's
replacement is taking place.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
- It was moved by Steve Jones and seconded by Marie Enochty to approve the minutes of
September 18, 2008. Voted unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
- It was moved, seconded and voted unanimously to adjourn, subject to paying bills, at
8:05 p. m.
