HomeMy Public PortalAbout2008_03_11_R044 Initiating Adoption of a Drought Assessment and Water Supply Plan The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED March 11. 2008 RESOLUIION NO. 2008-44 ADOPTED March 12.2008 A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING A PUBLIC HEARING FOR ADOPTION OF A DROUGHT ASSESSMENT AND WATER SUPPLY RESPONSE PLAN FOR THE TOWN OF LEESBURG INCLUDING FEES FOR VIOLA nON OF THE ORDINANCE WHEREAS, the Council has a continuing interest in the management and protection of the region's drinking water supply resource of the Potomac River; and WHEREAS, the Utilities Department has developed and recommends a Town of Leesburg Drought Assessment and Response Plan, consistent with the Metropolitan Washington Water Supply and Drought Awareness Response Plan adopted by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government's (COG) Board, to manage the Town's response and actions during periods of drought and water supply emergencies; and WHEREAS, the Governor of V irginia and the V irginia Department of Health has recommended all water utilities develop a drought contingency and water conservation plan. THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia: The Town Manager is hereby directed to advertise a public hearing for adoption of the Town of Leesburg Drought Awareness and Water Supply Response Plan, in a manner approved by the Town Attorney and in compliance with the statutes of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
