Same was seconded by Councilman ORDINANCE NO. _ZIL AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CENTRAL STATES ELECTRIC COMPANY OF CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA, ITS SUCCESSORS OR ASSIGNS, WITHIN THE TOWN OF WELLSBURG IOWA, TO CONSTRUCT, RECONSTRUCT, MAINTAIN AND OPERATE AN ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER PLANT, AND A SYSTKI FOR THE TRANSMISSION, DISTRIBUTION AND USE OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY, INCLUDING TF?E RIGHT TO BUILD AND OPERATE A HIGH POTENTIAL ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION LINE TO AXD THROUGH THE TOWN AND TO REPEAL CERTAIN ORDINANCES OF SAID TOWN. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF WELLSBURG, IOWA. Section One Permission and authority are hereby granted for a period of twenty (20) years from and after the acceptance of this Ordinance as herein provided, to Central States Electric Company of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, its successors or as- signs (hereinafter called the Grantee), to construct, reconstruct, maintain and operate a plant or plants for the generation of electricity, and to enter upon the public streets, alleys, highways, bridges, and public places within the corporate limits of the Town of Wellsburg, Iowa, as the same are now or may hereafter be extended or located; and therein, thereon, thereunder, and thereover construct, reconstruct, maintain and operate a system for the transmission, distribution and use of electricity, consisting of poles, wire, conduits and other construction necessary or incident to said system and its use, including a high potential electric transmission line to and through the Town and to sell and furnish electrical energy to the Town and its inhabitants for all purposes. Section Two This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its ap- proval by the legal electpre of the Town of Wellsburg, Iowa, at a special election called and held for that purpose, and the acceptance of this Ordinance by the Grantee in writing filed with the Town Clerk within thirty days from and after its approval at such election, and its publication as provided by law. Jan 3rd 1940/ Mayor Ross presiding and all councilmen present,. The Town Clerk being sick, on motion by Lindaman second by Luwe, H P Kruse serve as Clerk pro-tem. motion carried. Fire Chief Ross called on the Council asking that the Fire Co be furnished with more rain coats and caps for Firemen, and the matter was filed for reference until the next meeting. The next proceedings pertain to Ordinance # 95, and the granting of a Franchise Election to the Central States Electric Co, on forms properly filled out and made a part of the recodds of this Meeting; Councilman Okones moved and second by Lindaman that the Contract for Street Lighting from the Eentra 1 States Elect Co be accepted. motion carried. following attached forms are the proceedings for Ordina nee # 95. Bids on Removing snow with snowplow on Truck were let as follows, Johan Snittjer bid was $2.50 per hour Mayo T j aden bid was : `1.90 per hour, It was moved that the bid of Mayo Tjaden be accepted. Prices set for help in removing snoww off streets, was set at 30 cente per hour for labor, and 75 cente per hour for man and Truck to haul snow)G oft' streets.
