I. Call to order— 7:05 p.m.
A. Commissioners present — Randy Hughes (Vice Chair), Brad Kvanbek
(Secretary), Theresa Richey and Robin Reid.
B. Also present — Carolyn Smith, Jim Dillman (briefly) and Chad Adams.
II. Additions to agenda. — One, Item IV 4g.
III. Approval of last meeting's minutes. — Approved.
IV. Business
A. Park tour comments —
1. Robin offered to design a form to evaluate all the parks. Reviewed
Richfield's evaluation form. Outlined our own rough draft.
2. Independence beach improvements were mentioned by residents,
such as playground equipment and the boat ramp.
B. City hall shelter — Andy Bethune may no longer be interested. We
thought it may not work anyway.
C. Bonestroo donation — They are the city's engineering consultant.
Discussed use of donation. It was mentioned that the prices we have been
paying may be too much.
D. Trail study — Decided not to change a thing, it is perfect after 11
versions. The Morningside neighborhood trail may be an opportunity in the
near future. Horse use may not have been wholly addressed.
Commissioners should try to attend the July 1st city council meeting.
E. Park capital improvement plan — was discussed with Item A and to be
included in park tour comments.
F. Park use policy — We will plan to have one complete so it may be
implemented by the first of the year. Finish capital improvement and tour
input outline.
G. Joint meeting with Independence regarding trails — Galen, Brad and
Chad attended. Discussed County Road 19 trail.

H. K.K.E. development idea was also discussed. It will be discussed June
24th at 6:30 p.m. with city council.
V. Adjourn — 8:45 p.m. Next meeting regular meeting, July 16, 2003,
park tour. Galen will email a schedule.
