A RESOLUTION: DECLARING A HERITAGE TREE
WHEREAS, the State Code of Virginia allows for the designation of Heritage
trees within the corporate limits of the Town, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to designate the mature White Oak,
Quercus alba, with a trunk diameter of 48 inches, located on the east side of the Ida Lee
Park farm house, and
WHEREAS, this tree is believed to be at least 250 years old, which would mean
this tree was alive when Leesburg was established, and
WHEREAS, this would make this tree historically notable for the Town of
Leesburg.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
that the Town Council designates this White Oak as a Town Heritage Tree.
PASSED this 24th day of June 2008.
