WHEREAS, Bruce Kroon joined the City of Bothell as Fire Chief on September 18,
2017; and
WHEREAS, Bruce received the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation from the Center
for Public Safety Excellence on December 3, 2019, becoming one of only 1,426 CFO
designees worldwide; and
WHEREAS, Bruce helped organize the successful passing of the Safe and Secure
Levy and Bond; which funded several public safety positions and the replacement of
Fire Stations 42 and 45; and,
WHEREAS, Bruce played a key role in the design and construction of both fire
stations; and,
WHEREAS, Bruce lead the Fire Department successfully through the pandemic,
implementing safety protocols for staff while maintaining excellent service to the
public, and;
WHEREAS, Bruce has been a friend and mentor to his colleagues, encouraging
their own professional growth; and
WHEREAS, we celebrate Bruce's invaluable contributions of service and friendship;
and
WHEREAS, we wish Bruce all the best as he retires from the City and enjoys the next
chapter of his life.
NOW, THEREFORE I, Mason Thompson, Mayor of the City of Bothell, do hereby
proclaim the City of Bothell's appreciation to Chief Bruce Kroon for his many
contributions to the City of Bothell and our greater community.
