A RESOLUTION: GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITYINORTHERN VIRGINIA
COMMUNITY COLLEGE ENHANCED HIGHER EDUCATION IN
LOUDOUNILEESBURG ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College
(NOVA) has expressed a strong interest in expanding their presence in Loudoun County; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg presents has viable opportunities for potential campus
locations within its boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the Town has the opportunity to fully participate with the University, the
College, the County and School System in an implementation plan to refine the potential models
for the structure of a LoudounlLeesburg Campus that will guide the ultimate site selection; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council and its Economic Development Commission recognize
the potential comprehensive economic impact of a university located in Leesburg.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:
The Town Council hereby authorizes the appropriation up to $17,083.50 from the Town
Council's Contingency Fund to support the Joint Planning Study.
