A RESOLUTION: APPROVING A DESIGN CHANGE ORDER FOR THE SOUTH KING
STREET TRAIL PHASE 1 PROJECT
WHEREAS, in January 2002, the Town awarded a contract to Burgess & Niple Inc. for
$50,000 to provide engineering services for a trail design; and
WHEREAS, the original scope of the project had previously been increased to $96,275 to
include the design of a replacement of a failing watermain and a modification of the stormwater outfall
into Tuscarora Creek; and
WHEREAS, an additional change order is required to provide a design revision to help address
a major constructability issue; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Capital Projects Management recommends that this design
change order be approved for the work noted.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Manager is authorized to execute a change order to the contract with Burgess & Niple, Inc. in
the amount of $48,654 for providing the additional design and engineering services for this project
bringing the total design contract to $144,929.
