HomeMy Public PortalAbout05162023 Public Works Week National Public Works Week WHEREAS, public works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are vital to sustainable and resilient communities, public health, and the well-being of the people of Bothell; and, WHEREAS, these services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals from diverse backgrounds representing a diverse community who are engineers, maintenance workers, managers, and employees at all levels of government and private sectors, responsible for rebuilding, improving and protecting our transportation, water supply, stormwater systems, wastewater conveyance and treatment, solid waste systems, and public buildings essential for our residents, businesses, and visitors; and, WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the residents, civic leaders, businesses, and children in the City of Bothell, Washington, to gain knowledge and understanding of the importance of public works programs in our community and of the importance of their own contributions as community members to those programs; and, WHEREAS, the year 2023 marks the 63rd annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, I Mason Thompson, Mayor of Bothell, hereby designate the week of May 21 - 27, 2023, as National Public Works Week, urging all Bothell residents to acknowledge our public works professionals and recognize the substantial contributions they make to protect our health, safety, and quality of life.
